Business Unit : Optimization

Description
Must have:
We would need a combination of solid technical skills, good understanding of a 4G/5G system and experience with parameter tuning.
We would wish to see good oral and written communication skills, the ability to explain the essence of a technical change to a less technical audience in a concise way.
Size of the current team: 20 – 30 people.
No travel required in principle, maybe very exceptional to do some field (drive) testing.

Project: Currently there is a project aimed at improving the customer experience/satisfaction. It involves improving some specific aspects of the mobile network behaviour. This typically involves: drive-test analysis, parameter change and feature trials, reporting of results to the management.

Role description:
The main tasks of a Radio Frequency (RF) optimisation Engineer is to improve the customer experience offered by the installed base of network infrastructure and to be involved in global
optimisation exercises.

Required areas of expertise:

  • Improving network performance by changing network parameters (Preferably in a Nokia RAN)
  • Analysis of (benchmark) drive tests.
  • Have a solid technical background in 4G, be able to perform optimisation in a multi-layer network context.
  • Perform 5G optimisation, specifically in a B2B setting, understand the properties and specific challenges linked to active antennas

Degree & Experience:
Bachelor or Master degree as electrical engineer, telecommunication or equivalent through previous experience.

Technical skills:

  • Knowledge of multiple radio access technologies (mainly 4G/5G )
  • Knowledge of an RF tools such as Atoll, ActixAnalyser and Viavi-AriesoGeo, SmartAnalytics
  • Knowledge of Huawei PM tool (PRS)
  • Knowledge of Nokia performance management tools (Netact, Nac)
  • Ability to understand & analyse wireless network traces and KPIs
  • Understanding antennas and antenna lines, radiation patterns, etc…
  • Have an understanding of common issues encountered in mobile radio networks and how to typically solve those.
  • Understand Passive inter-modulation and ways to deal with it.

Attitudes/Behaviour/communication skills:

  • Ability to organise prioritise tasks
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills: being able to bring convey a message on a technical topic to a less tech-savvy audience.
